Bar
J Charolais is located 120 miles North West of Winnipeg
(on Highway #50 and 10 miles North of Amaranth, Manitoba). At
Bar J Charolais we are the 5th generation of beef cattle producers.
We started using Charolais bulls on our purebred Angus herd in 1969 and purchased
our first registered Charolais females in 1973. It has taken years of selective
breeding to produce our present herd of polled Charolais females. Our emphasis
is on low maintenance cattle that perform. Through extensive A.I. and line-breeding
we have developed a strong herd of polled females who produce bulls that have
worked very well for our customers meeting the demands of the beef industry.
Our
cattle are raised under ranch conditions on native pasture. Each year we make
available a few polled females from the heart of our breeding program. This
is usually done through the Hi-Weigh Breeders and Guests Sale in Brandon each
December.
Visitors
are ALWAYS welcome. We invite you to inspect our herd in person and look at
the great selection of bulls and limited number of females available in the
yard, for sale by private treaty.
Our 4th Annual
Bull Sale will be held March 10, at the Ste. Rose Auction Mart with guest
consignor Velda Rose Charolais. We will have 25 yearlings and 11 two-year
olds on offer - polled and red factor!
