Baby born to Craig & Cathy Scott
Sarah Catherine Lynn Scott was born to Charolais Banner partner Craig & Cathy Scott of Olds, AB on August 1st. Sarah weighed in at 7lbs. 9 oz.



Hogg, Hunter Win CCYA Show
Michael Hogg, Diamond H Charolais, Roseneath, ON won Grand Champion Female honours at the Canadian Charolais Youth Association Show, July 24th in Dauphin, MB with DYV Paynes Wendy 6W (SVY Pilgrim Pld 655S).

Reserve Grand Champion Female was High Bluff Gellia 112W (MVX Cougarhill Hank 720G) exhibited by Autumn Jackson, High Bluff Stock Farm, Inglis.

Michael Hunter, Hunter Charolais, Roblin had Grand Champion Bull with HC Xpress 21X (HC Scorecard 629S). Reserve Grand Champion Bull was HTA Captain Morgan 4X (SVS Nobleman 25N) exhibited by Terinda Holopina, HTA Charolais, Rivers.

Hunter Elected CCYA President
Michael Hunter of Roblin, MB was elected president of the Canadian Charolais Youth Association at their Annual Meeting held in conjunction with the CCYA Conference and Show, July 21-24 in Dauphin, MB. Vice-President is Russell Gallelli, Crossfield, AB; Treasurer is Brandon Sparrow, Vanscoy, SK; Secretary is Candace Alexander, Cargill, ON and other board members include Michael Hogg, Roseneath, ON; Autumn Jackson, Inglis, MB; Luke Marshall, Innisfail, AB & Kirsten Sparrow, Vanscoy, SK.

CCYA Grand Aggregate Winners
Grand Aggregate winners for most points at the 2010 Canadian Charolais Youth Association Show and Conference in Dauphin, MB July 21-24th were:

Junior-Calina Evans, Kenaston, SK & Shelby Evans, Kenaston, SK Intermediate-Shae-Lynn Evans, Kenaston, SK & Luke Marshall, Innisfail, AB Senior-Autumn Jackson, Inglis & Michael Hunter, Roblin

Charolais steer Wins Calgary
A1394 lb. dark grey Charcross steer from Roger Hardy, Sooline Cattle Co. of Midale, SK, Tyler Bullick, Dutchess, AB and Wacey McCaw won the UFA Steer Classic at the Calgary Stampede. The champion steer received $10,000 when he beat out 79 entries in 11 different classes on Saturday, July 17th. Judge Cam Sparrow, Vanscoy, SK used a steer from Rod McLeod, Cochrane as Reserve in the Charolais class.

Charolais influence Top Saskatoon 4-H Regional
Grand Champion Steer was exhibited by Katie Serhienko, Maymont. The silver steer sired by a club calf bull our of a Charolais cow weighed 1460 lb. and sold for $7.00 / lb. to Dairyland Agro and John Deere Farm & Garden Centre.

Reserve Grand Champion Steer was exhibited by Emma Sparrow. It was a tan Charolais sired calf weighing 1370 lb. and sold for $3.75 per pound to Moody's Equipment, Saskatoon.

There were 91 steers in the show judged by Rob Garner, Simpson, on July 11th and 12th.

Shae-Lynn Evans, Kenaston, had the Grand Champion Bred Heifer with LAE Sassy Sanchez 906W. She went on to be the Reserve Grand Champion Female.

Charolais Heifer Wins at Melfort 4-H
A Charolais heifer exhibited by Layne Cay of Kinistino, SK and of the Meskanaw-Ethelton 4-H Beef Club won Junior Champion Female at the Melfort Regional 4-H Show on July 4th.

Charolais Steer Wins Melita 4-H
Hayley Schuddemat from the Tilston (MB) 4-H Beef Club won the Melita Interclub Rally June 19th with a tan Charcross steer. The steer beat out 20 others and weighed 1,290 lbs., sold for $2.10/lb. to Penn West Energy, Estevan, SK. Judge was Wally Mitchell, Killarney.

Bignell Re-Elected CCA President
Lyle Bignell from Stettler, AB was re-elected president of the Canadian Charolais Association at there Annual General Meeting held June 17th in Moose Jaw, SK.

The rest of the executive remained the same as well with Wade Beck, Lang, 1st Vice-President, Campbell Forsyth, Eriksdale, MB, 2nd Vice-President and Cam Sparrow, Vanscoy staying on as Past-President.

Wilgenbusch Charolais, Halbrite was voted the Saskatchewan Charolais Association's Breeder of the Year which was presented during the SCA AGM held June 15th in Moose Jaw, SK

Walker Re-elected President of SCA
Orland Walker of Hudson Bay was re-elected president of the Saskatchewan Charolais Association at their Annual General Meeting held June 15th in Moose Jaw. Donna Ross, Coronach was re-elected as 1st Vice-President, Greg Gilliland, Carievale was elected 2nd Vice-President and Dave Blechinger, Rosetown remains Secretary/Treasurer.

Charolais Steer Wins Kerrobert Regional Show
"
Tyler Applin of Alsask, SK had Grand Champion steer beating out 30 steers at the 4-H Regional Show held June 2nd in Kerrobert. The tan steer weighed 1,232 lbs. and sold for $2.40/lb. to J & B Equipment Ltd., Kindersley. Judges were Shana & Jinaye Ayrey.

Char-Cross Steer Grand Champion at 4-H On Parade
Judge Aaron Grant selected a tan Char-cross steer as Grand Champion at the 2010 4-H on Parade, Calgary, Alberta. The 1288 lbs steer was exhibited by Rachel Drake, Irricana and sold for $6.50 per lbs to the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. A total of 125 steers were exhibited at this years 4-H on Parade.
