Twelve years ago, three friends went out and bought what they thought was the best dark red Charolais female they could find. "Marthas Lily" bred by Henry Begrand was that heifer. Twelve years later and numerous out-crosses later, Sand Rose Charolais (located in South West Saskatchewan) is still dedicated to raising dark pigmented, purebred Charolais cattle with the right qualities. We feel the need for bulls that will leave even colored, easy fleshing, easy calving, thick haired offspring in the commercial cowherd is increasing and will increase as the commercial cow herd becomes darker and darker.
We encourage anyone to phone or stop in and compare notes or ideas on good dark pigment cattle. We feel BAXTER is the bull to try on those good white females and open up these dark bloodlines.
