HFCC Pld Chrome 51L & Target Pld Ginny 26G B.O.S.S. Animals of 2002

HFCC Pld Chrome 51L, owned by Harder Farms, Clavet, SK and Johnson Charolais, Barrhead, AB, was the 2002 B.O.S.S. Bull. Finishing out the top 5 bulls were Hicks Kasino 11K, VMN Habanero Pld 137L, RC Kowboy 0166 and HTA Thickset 270M.

Target Pld Ginny 26G was named the B.O.S.S. Female of the Year, owned by Target Cattle Co., Calgary, AB. Rounding out the top 5 females were WSS Lady Like 135L, JSR Jive 25L, CS Macy 6M and MSW Juvana 24J.

The B.O.S.S. Bull of the year was KC Stolichnaya, followed by SVY Guardian Pld 969J, JWK Impressive, Sparrows Alliance and RA Big Cat.

Three bulls gained the honour of B.O.S.S. Status - JWK Impressive D040, MVX Cougarhill Jake 767G and JBJ AJ 787G.

Target, Harder/Johnson Win Canadian National Show
Target Cattle Co., Calgary, AB, won Grand Champion Female at the 2002 Canadian National Charolais Show held November 29th at Canadian Western Agribition in Regina, SK. TARGET PLD GINNY 26G, a five year old daughter of Lazy Jr Zing 32Z and her February Target Derrick bull calf at side beat out 93 other female entries for the win.

JSR JIVE 25L, a yearling daughter of JWK Impressive D040 was the Reserve Grand Champion Female for Saunders Charolais, Markdale, ON and new owner Diamond W Charolais, Hudson Bay who had purchased her the day before out of the National Sale.

Blair & Lois McRae of Brandon, MB, selected HFCC PLD CHROME 51L, a yearling son of HTA Hardcopy, as Grand Champion Bull over 83 other bull entries. Chrome is owned by Harder Farms, Clavet & Johnson Charolais, Barrhead, AB.

Reserve Grand Champion Bull was SPARROWS MADRED 7M, an ABC Latoro bull
calf from A. Sparrow Farms, Vanscoy.

Charolais Steers Win Agbrition Commercial Show
Bar Crossroads Ranch, Steve Harty, Edam won Grand Champion Feeder Steers at the Canadian Western Agribition Commercial Show held November 29 in Regina, SK. This Pen of 10 Charolais/Simmental-Hereford steers won over 20 pens of 5, 10 and 20. Steve won last year also.

A pen of 20 Charolais X steers from Vermeulen Farms, Ceylon won the pen of 20 category. In the Feeder Heifer show the Champion and Reserve Champion Pen of 10 were both Charolais X from Vermeulen Farms and Bar Crossroads Ranch.

The Champion Pen of 10 went on to be Reserve Grand Champion Pen of Feeder Heifers for the Vermeulens who also had Reserve Champion Pen of 5.

Charolais Win All-Breeds Bull Calf Jackpot Show at Manitoba Livestock Expo
CS MANGO 256M (Curtis Wallace x MNE Banjo) from Clement & Stewart Livestock, Russell won this years Keystone Konnection All Breeds Bull Calf Show. Mango beat out 54 bulls of six breeds, at the show held November 16 in Brandon, MB, it was judged by three cattlemen.

Double H Charolais, Paynesville, MN won Grand Champion female honours at this year's show held November 15 in Brandon, MB. JMB METALLIC 9K (a daughter of MNE Greenlight with a CS Pld Junction bull calf at side) was slapped champion by Kasey & Arlana Philips of Waskateneau, AB.
Reserve Grand Champion female was CAMPBELLS BUBBLES 87K (a daughter of Campbells
Little Boy 81E and her Skymont Ease bull calf at side) exhibited by Campbells Charolais, Griffin, SK.
Grand Champion bull was HTA THICKSET 270M (a February son of HTA Braveheart) from HTA Charolais, Rivers.
Reserve Grand Champion bull of this 81 head show was CS Mango 256M (a February son of Curtis Wallace) from Clement & Stewart Livestock, Russell.

Dusty Lane Win Cattleman's Cup
Dusty Lane Charolais, of Winkler, won both the People's Choice Award and their bull was selected in this year's Cattleman's Cup Futurity Bull Show held in conjucntion with Brandon's Livestock Expo November 14-16. DLC SPENCER 19M, a January 15th son of KC Stolichnaya, was voted the People's Choice winner of $4,000 by the 100 ticket holders. Jake Peters,
of Winkler, won his pick of the 19 bull calves entered and had selected Spencer with Dusty Lane receiving approximately $8,000 for him.

Bridor & Beach Valley top Toronto Royal Show
Beach Valley Farms of Beachburg won the Grand Champion Female honours at this years Toronto Royal Charolais Show with MSW JUVANA 24J, a three-year old daughter of EVC Hot King and her Stoli heifer calf at side.

Lee and Dawn Wilson selected WSS LADY LIKE 135L, an April yearling daughter of KC
Stolichnaya from Dudgeon-Snobelen Land & Cattle Co., Ripley, as the Reserve Grand Champion Female.

Grand Champion Bull, of this 74 entry show, was HICKS KASINO 11K from Bridor Charolais, Mount Forest. This is the second year in a row this two-year old son of Bridor Haldrey 5H has been Champion at the Royal.

Reserve Grand Champion Bull was POST LEONARDO 2L, a yearling son of Sparrows Kingpin 213E from Ranch Ostiguy Charolais, St-Cesaire, PQ.

Target Cattle Co., Harder Farms/Johnson Charolais Win Edmonton Farm Fair Show
Target Cattle Co, Calgary, AB, had the Grand Champion Female with TARGET PLD GINNY 26G, sired by Lazy Jr Zing 32Z with her Target Derrick 11D bull calf at side at the show held on November 8.

Reserve Grand Champion Female was CS MACY 6M, sired by Keys Front Page and shown by Clement & Stewart Livestock, Russell, MB.

Judge Bob Switzer, Aneroid, SK, slapped HFCC PLD CHROME 51L the Grand Champion Bull. Chrome is sired by HTA Hard Copy and owned by Harder Farms, Clavet, SK and Johnson Charolais, Barrhead, AB.

RC KOWBOY 0166, sired by TO'S RC Viking 8155 Pld, exhibited by Silverbirch Charolais, Bruderheim, AB and Ross Cattle Services, Innisfail, AB was the Reserve Grand Champion Bull.

Voegeli Wins "King of the Ring" at Lloydminster
Voegeli Bros. Charolais, Maymont, won the all-breed bull calf show, "King of the Ring", with SVY SLY Titan Pld 264M (a son of LHD Cigar) at this year's Lloydminster Exhibition held October 31 to November 2nd.

In the Charolais show, Grand Champion Bull was VMN Habanero Pld 137L (a yearling son of RA Big Cat), exhibited by Cadieux Charolais, Shaunavon and Voegeli Bros. Charolais. Judge Lee Wilson selected SVY Wide Load Pld 258M (SVY Wide Cut 20K), from Voegeli Bros. Charolais.

Grand Champion Female of the 15 entry show was SVY Hip Hop 228M (DYV Clearcut 14H) from Voegeli Bros. Charolais.  They also had Reserve Grand Champion Female with SVY Caughtya Watchin 283M (SVY Guardian).

Canadian Charolais Breeders did well at the N.I.L.E. Show, October 18th in Billings, Montana. Grand Champion Bull was RC KOWBOY 0166, a two-year old son of TO'S RC Viking 8155 Pld, exhibited by Silverbirch Charolais, Bruderheim, AB and Ross Cattle Services, Innisfail, AB. Saunders Charolais, of Markdale, took Grand Champion Bull honours with JSR EQUITY 17M, a calendar year SVY Widecut son.
Bridor Charolais, of Mount Forest, won Reserve Grand Champion Bull with HICKS KASINO 11K, a two-year old son of Bridor Haldrey.
Scott Leeson of Ridgetown judged this 52 Entry show on September 15.
Grand Champion Female was WSS LADY LIKE 135L, a yearling daughter of KC Stolichnaya, from Dudgeon-Snobelen Land & Cattle, Ripley.
Saunders Charolais also won Reserve Grand Champion Female with JSR JIVE 25L, a yearling daughter of JWK Impressive D040.

Bridor Sweeps Barrie, ON, BOSS Show
Bridor Farms, of Mount Forest, won both Grand Champion Bull and Female at this years BOSS Show held in Barrie, August 22nd.
HICKS KASINO 11K, the 2001 National Champion Bull, was the Grand Champion Bull sired by Bridor Haldrey.
The Reserve Grand Champion Bull was XAL LETTERHEAD 9L, a yearling son of Stolichnaya from Medonte Farms,Hillsdale.
Grand Champion Female, of this 44 entry show, was BRIDOR KUTIE PIE 6K, a two-year old daughter of RGP Eureka, exhibited by Bridor Farms.
Tom Hull of Balcarres, SK slapped MSW JAVARA 24J, a three-year old Hot King daughter, as Res. Grand Champion Female for Beach Valley Farms, Beachburg.

Crosby's Magnum 207M and Crosby's AJ 206M were Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Bulls at the Fredricton Exhibition Maritime Open Show held September 2nd in Fredriction, NB.
Haven View Charolais of New Haven, P.E.I. also had the Grand Champion Female of this 29 Entry show with Cros Ms Emily 1G.
LXL Charolais of Haute-Aboujagane, NB had the Reserve Grand Champion Female with GGD Miss KingPin.

Interior Provincial Exhibition Show Results

The Charolais show, judged by Levi Jackson of Sedley, SK, was held on August 30, 2002 in Armstrong, BC. Charolais captured all but one of the interbreed classes.
SPARROWS TEMPEST 174K, sired by Sparrows Advantage with her BKJ Buckaroo calf at side, owned by Prairie Cove Charolais, Alix, AB, was named the Grand Champion Female.
Reserve Champion Female was GMC NORTHERN REFLECTION, sired by NOR Rockford and owned by GMC Charolais, Lumby.
The Grand Champion Bull, GMC LINCOLN 26L, sired by NOR Rockford, was owned by GMC Charolais.
Reserve Grand Champion Bull, GMC PRIME TARGET 20M was sired by WCR Prime Time and owned by GMC Charolais.

Gencor East Show Highlights

Grand Champion Charolais Female was SNAKE CREEK LASHES 101L, sired by SOS Jambuster and shown by Tyler O'Neill, Cripple Creek Farms of Dundalk, ON. Lashes continued on to win Reserve Champion Female over all breeds at the show held on July 31, 2002 in Markham, ON. Reserve Champion Female was BRIDOR LACI 14L, sired by RGP Eureka and exhibited by Kyle Moyer, Durham, ON. With 72 head of cattle being shown, 14 Charolais were present.

Marten's/Harder Win Prince Albert BOSS Show
MXS MERSYNDOL 211M, a January 2002 son of MSW Y2K, owned by Marten's Cattle Co., Glenbush was slapped the Grand Champion Bull at this years Prince Albert Exhibition. The judges were Lyle Noble, Lloydminster & Blaine Harland, Frenchman Butte.

The Reserve Grand Champion Bull at this August 1st show was WESTDALE LASER PLD 2L, a yearling son of Sparrows Alliance owned by Bar EW Charolais, Macrorie; Westdale Cattle Co., Tisdale and Char-Maine & Borderline Ranching, Cardston, AB.

Grand Champion Female was HFCC ADELINE 17K a two-year old Stolichnaya daughter with her Sparrows Alliance bull calf at side. Harder Farms, Clavet showed this top pair.

Reserve Grand Champion Female in this 28 Entry show was WJR SABLE 2J a three year old Skymont Ease daughter and her PF Impressed heifer calf at side. Russ-Char Charolais, Rose Valley were the exhibitors.

Allan Marshall, Innisfail, AB, was re-elected president of the CCA at their 42nd Annual meeting, held July 26th in Dauphin, MB. Weston Wins CCYA National Junior Show
Whitney Weston, of Maidstone, SK, won Grand Champion Female honours with WWW SUGAR 120L at the Canadian Charolais Youth Association Annual Conference and Junior Show. Held July 24-27th in Dauphin, MB, 114 youth from BC to Quebec attended and showed 100 entries of cattle.

Reserve Grand Champion honours went to Suzanne Blake of McCord, SK with Bar EW Melissa 3L.

Canadian Charolais Youth Association Conference a Big Success
114 youth from six provinces learned and competed at this year's annual conference in Dauphin, MB. Categories from Art to Judging to Showmanship were all part of this tremendous event.

Grand Aggregate winners were Tyler Bullick, Alix, AB (Senior); Brian Harder, Saskatoon, SK (Intermediate); and Marina Wagers, Innisfail, AB (Junior).

HAPPY HAVEN STASH 53L (RPJ Stash 770G), owned by Happy Haven Charolais, Oakburn, was slapped Grand Champion Bull at the Heart of Canada Show, held July 15 at Oak River, MB.

Judge Les Wedderburn, Alexander, then selected HTA THICKSET 270M (HTA Braveheart PLD 853H) as the Reserve Grand Champion bull for HTA Charolais, Rivers.

HTA Charolais also won Grand Champion & Supreme Female Honours with HTA DELIGHT 148L (HTA Braveheart).

Reserve Grand Champion Female, of this 65 Entries BOSS Show, was HC EMERALD 4K (HTA Whitehot, calf-Prime Cut), from Hunter Charolais, Roblin.

Cadieux/Voegeli Win Supreme Beef Show at Calgary Stampede
VMN HABANERO PLD 137L, sired by RA Big Cat and owned by Cadieux Charolais, Shaunavon, SK and Voegeli Bros. Charolais, Maymont, SK, was the Supreme Champion Bull at the Calgary Stampede Supreme Beef Show, held July 14. Habanero was also the Grand Champion Bull at the Charolais Show, held July 12.

The Reserve Grand Champion Bull, at the Charolais Show, was RC KOWBOY 0166 P/S, owned by Hugh Ross, Innisfail, AB and Silverbirch Charolais, Bruderheim, AB.

Grand Champion Female, was BAR K SWEET N' STYLISH 10K, sired by MVX Cougarhill Jake, owned by Bar K Charolais, Saskatoon.

Reserve Grand Champion Female was TARGET PLD GINNY 26G, sired by Lazy Jr Zing 32Z, owned by Target Cattle Co., Calgary, AB.

Charolais Wins Supreme at Strawfest
Strawfest was held on June 22, 2002, at the Carp Fair Grounds in Carp, ON, with 112 youth exhibitors showing 159 animals. Judges for the day were Dawn and Lee Wilson from Bashaw, Alberta.

In the Charolais division there were 17 animals, the Grand Champion went to Allison Miller and her January 3rd yearling, Medontes Lace. The Reserve Champion animal was a January 21st, 2001, EBS Tamy 15L, exhibited by Kristen Edmunds, Cobden.

The Supreme Champion Female went to Allison Miller, from Hillsdale, with her yearling Charolais, Medontes Lace. The Reserve Champion went to Paula Ocalison, from Newton, with her May 22, 2001, Game Over, which was
from the any other breed class.

JMB Charolais, Brookdale, MB, won the Carberry First Lady Classic on July 7, with JMB GYPSEY 114L, sired by CS Pld Junction. Gypsey also was the overall Reserve Champion Female at the Carberry Show.

Charolais Win Saskatoon 4-H Regional Show
Brian Harder, of Clavet, had the Grand Champion Cow/Calf Pair at this years show July 7th and 8th at Saskatoon, SK. This two-year old daughter of Stolichnaya, with an Alliance bull calf at side, was the Champion Yearling Heifer last year.

Charolais Steers also won 1st and 2nd in the group of five category out of 7 groups.
106 Steers averaged $1.37/lb. in the sale.

Charolais Win Red Deer District 4-H Show
A Charolais steer, owned by Steffen Rasmussen of HEJ Charolais, Innisfail, beat out 81 other entries from 4 other clubs to win Grand Champion at the Red Deer District 4-H Show, held June 3.
HEJ 153L (1330 lbs., BW 80 lbs., 15/16 Charolais), sired by Main Merit Icon 73J and out of HEJ Main Bronson 26F, sold to Wheaton Chevrolet Oldsmobile Ltd, of Red Deer, for $2.30/lb.
